Wintertime – everything is white!

February 15, 2026

Dear readers
It’s incredible, we’ve had a white winter landscape almost continuously since the beginning of January. I can only remember this from previous years.
When we began establishing our organic farm in 1978, there was so much snow that we couldn’t start at our planned time in April. But even after that, we often had winters that were very cold.
Although I love winter, this time I am sometimes a little sad that I can’t go to my beloved training sessions. It’s just too cold for wheelchairs and hand bikes.

I remember writing about this in my book:
“One thing is also clear to me: without training and gaining more strength, many things would not have been possible for me. For riding with the hand bike, the training was a basic requirement. This has, in turn, brought me to new difficulties, such as being in front of an elevator with the out-of-order sign. What does it do to me when I see such a sign? This is a task that I cannot solve with muscle power. My mind, confidence, and a certain equanimity are required. These have always helped me to find a solution.”

I am now using the time to continue working on my second book.
I am currently writing about a conversation I had in an elevator during rehab in 2021.
The conversation came up quite suddenly and was about the soul. I thought about it later and now, as I was revising the chapter, I talked about it with a very dear friend of mine. It has been an interesting few hours. Have you ever thought about the meaning of the soul?

Perhaps you, dear reader, will use the wintertime to read my book:
Forward—Giving Up Is Not an Option

or watch my interview for The Book Connections Show:

It should get warmer again at the end of the month, and then I’ll be able to get back to training with my wheelchair and hand bike. It will also give me the opportunity to meet up with friends in a restaurant again.

I wish you all the best.
Warm regards
Eugen
